Veterinarian Clinics

Many veteran breeders will tell you to keep your healthy dog away from veterinarian clinics. The reason is quite simple, there are sick animals at these clinics. You do not want to expose your healthy dog to an unhealthy environment. There is an incredible amount out there that is very contagious. Many veterinarian clinics recommend seeing your dog twice a year; I personally do not feel that is necessary for a healthy animal. The veterinarian industry has become a huge money maker. In many cases they take advantage of their clients, counting on the fact that we will empty our pockets for our dogs. Many veterinarians will tell you it is necessary to vaccinate your pet twice a year for parvo and bordetella, this is simply not needed once a year is sufficient. It is unfortunate that so many veterinarians have become so greedy for our dollars. Most of us want to insure that our pets stay healthy and we make every effort to achieve that goal. We need veterinarians when our dogs are sick, to perform surgeries, diagnose diseases, do lab work, prescribe medications, and vaccinations. You would think with all that, the industry would be making a healthy profit, so why pressure us into unnecessary visits and procedures?

Saint Bernard Info

Saint Bernards need regular exercise. If you are looking for a jogging buddy, then pick another breed. Saint Bernards enjoy walking not running. Plus if you run Saint Bernards you could have some serious joint issues on down the road. Another problem with running a Saint Bernard is you risk over-heating them. Heat stroke will kill a dog if not treated quickly. Saint Bernards enjoy a brisk walk or even a leisure stroll, the key is regularly exercising them. It's good for them and its good for us.
