Our canine friends have provided a lot of inspiration to artists through the years.  Canines have been depicted on Greek urns and pitchers, on Roman sarcophagi, countless paintings and many famous photos as well.

Dog Trivia

Our special bond with our puppies and dogs may have very positive effects on our health.  Some individuals have experienced lower blood pressure simply by petting their dog.  It is believed simply having a puppy or dog to take care of keeps us strong by knowing they rely upon us.

Have you ever wondered how long the oldest dog lived?  The record is held by a cattle dog named Bluey from Victoria, Australia; he lived to be 29 years old.  Another famous old dog is Bramble from Somerset, England; he lived to be 27 years old.

Dog Trivia

Dogs played a significant role in Greek mythology.  There was Odysseus' faithful Argus, who never gave up hoping for his master's return; Laelaps, the "golden hound" the protector of Zeus; and the fear-inducing, three headed Cerberus, who guarded the gates to the underworld.

Dog Trivia

The first dog show was held in Newcastle Upon Tyme, England in 1859.  The show was limited to pointers and setters; later a second show turned up in Birmingham that added spaniels and hounds to the show.  The dog show in Birmingham is still held today and is considered one of the most prestigious canine competitions in the world.

New Pages Added To Blog

We have been busy in recent days adding some new pages to our blog; we hope you will enjoy the content.  We now have a page with photos of our Saint Bernards.  Looking for a dog show in California, check out our page which shows All-Breed Dog Shows and Saint Bernard Specialty Shows in California.  We now have  three pages of links; one for Saint Bernard Clubs, Saint Bernard websites located in the USA, and a page listing Saint Bernard websites from countries around the world.

On our other blog we have been busy as well, Saints Bernards R' Special.  Check out the following list of pages located on this blog.
We are not promoting any of these links; they have just been provided for you to check out; if you want.  I realized several years ago it was difficult to find certain Saint Bernard information that I was looking for and because of that I have created a good size listing of Saint Bernard websites.
