A vaccination or immunization stimulates an immune response in your pet; which will provide them protection from a disease or group of diseases. A vaccine can be given individually for a particular disease or as a group shot for diseases. The rabies vaccine is always given as a separate shot. Dog vaccinations consist of two groups; core and non-core. The core vaccines are for the following:
- Rabies
- Distemper
- Hepatitis / Adenovirus
- Parvovirus
- Bordetella
- Parainfluenza (this was part of the core group for many years)
- Leptospirosis
- Lyme Disease
- Giardia
- Coronavirus
- Canine Influenza H3N8
- Dog Rattlesnake Vaccine
