The American Kennel Club has added the Finnish Lapphund to the Herding Group as one of their registered breeds, effective June 1, 2011. This dog was developed north of the Arctic Circle, their coat is thick and profuse to protect them from extremely cold temperatures. Coat colors include black, blonde, brown, and tan; their sweet face reminds one of a teddy bear.
