Some older dogs lose their ability to get up on their own when they are laying down.  There are many products available to help you raise your dog up from the floor.  These dogs are often mobile once they are on their feet; they just no longer have the ability to stand up on their own.  Any older dog who has mobility issues should be closely monitored in case they fall or trip and land on the ground.
