Things to Consider (cont.)

  1. Feed a good diet - Name brand dog foods may be more expensive, but they are the better choice. One thing to consider with name brands, with most you get lower stool volume. Usually with the name brands you can use smaller portions to satisfy your pet. Pick a brand that has been around for a long time. Look at the ingredient list on the package, if corn is listed somewhere at the top; then it is probably not a good choice. I recommend puppy food for the first year, they contain the necessary nutrients for your fast growing puppy. Puppy food is more expensive, but you are only going to use it for that first year. Always make sure your puppy or dog has access to plenty of fresh water.
