Important People And Their Dogs

Dr. Ueno, a professor in Japan; had an Akita named Hachiko.  Professor Ueno suffered a stroke and died at the university where he worked; Hachiko was about 18 months old when this occurred.  Hachiko would wait at the train station in Shibuya each day for his master to return home for the rest of his life.  He has been honored for his loyalty with a bronze statue at Shibuya.
