Most of us have heard the phrase, "raining cats and dogs." But do you know where this originated from? It dates back to the seventeenth century in England. During periods of heavy rain when flooding would occur, many animals would drown in the flood waters. They would float down into village streets, giving the appearance that it had rained cats and dogs.
