Dogs In The Hound Group

The Basenji is a poised and elegant hunting dog from Africa.  Features of the Basenji are a wrinkled forehead and a high curled tail.  The Basenji is often referred to as the barkless dog; they don't bark but they do yodel.  Their coat colors range from chestnut red, pure black, brindle; with white feet, chest, and the tip of their tail.  Did you know that the Basenji cleans itself all over just like a cat?  The Basenji was recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1944.
