Mentoring Program For New Exhibitor

The American Kennel Club offers the New Exhibitor Mentoring Program to those individuals who have just registered their dog with them or to individuals thinking about getting a registered dog.  The program allows these individuals to meet experienced breeders who can assist them in getting started.  These veteran breeders can share their experience with the novice.

Once you have filled out the application for the New Exhibitor Mentoring Program; the American Kennel Club will provide you with a list of qualified mentors in your state.  They can help you with:

• Etiquette for basic dog shows and events
• Judging Procedures for dog shows and events
• Terminology used at dog shows and events
• Description of the types of events
• Instructions for filling out your entry form for dog shows and events
• Provide information on local dog clubs
