More On Novartis Animal Health Plant

In December 2011, the FDA launched a four week inspection of the Novartis Animal Health Plant in Lincoln, Nebraska.  In a 24 page report by the FDA, the following are listed as the root problems at the Novartis Plant:

  • Human errors
  • Sloppy procedures
  • Improperly trained employees
The FDA ordered the Novartis Animal Health Plant to shut down production on December 11, 2011.  The plant notified the public 8 days later of the closure.

After consulting with the FDA, the Novartis Plant will be releasing to the United States and Canadian veterinarians their stocked animal health inventory.  These products were manufactured prior to the plants closure.  Some of the products they will be releasing are:

  • Interceptor Flavor Tabs
  • Sentinel Flavor Tabs
  • Clomicalm
  • Program tablets and suspension
  • Milbemite
(more on this later from Brandykegs)
