The Curly-Coated Retriever is very descriptive of their coat which is small, tight, water-resistant crisp curls; their coat colors are black or liver.  The Curly-Coated Retriever is believed to be the oldest of the retriever breeds.  The American Kennel Club recognized the Curly-Coated Retriever in 1924.
