The Irish Water Spaniel is strong and intelligent. This breed has a unique "rat tail." The Irish Water Spaniel is an ancient breed going back to the 7th century. Their coat is naturally water repellent and liver colored. The Irish Water Spaniel was recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1884.
