The English Setter is similar in function to the Irish and Gordon Setters. The English Setter has a beautiful feathered coat consisting of white with an intermingling of darker hairs; this coat coloring is called belton. This breed is considered to be one of the oldest gun breed dogs. The English Setter was recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1884.
