Dogs In The Sporting Group

The Chesapeake Bay Retriever is the state dog of Maryland.  This Retriever has yellowish or amber eyes with a unique coat; the outer coat is harsh, short, and wavy; while the undercoat is dense, fine, and wooly.  This breed is well known for their prowess in rough icy waters.  The Chesapeake Bay Retriever was recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1878.
