The Norwegian Elkhound hunts elk and bear. Their coat is silver grey with saddle markings. The Norwegian Elkhound is an ancient breed from Scandinavia; remains of this breed have been found with Viking artifacts dating back 5000 years. The Norwegian Elkhound was recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1913.
