The Bassett Hound is easily recognized by its extra long ears and very short legs. This breed hunts by scent; they can be used in a pack for hunting or alone. The Bassett Hound was originally developed in France. Did you know the French derivative of Bassett means low thing or dwarf? The Bassett Hound was recognized by this American Kennel Club in 1885.
